  • Kronwalled: The biggest hits of Niklas Kronwall&#;s career

Though undersized, Nicklas Kronwall is one of the best open ice hitters in the National Hockey League.

It always begins so innocently, as the opponent curls toward the right-wing boards. Then here comes a resehandling, here comes the puck, and here comes a locomotive numbered 55, who sends the skater sprawling to the ice, the fans to their feet, the referee to the crime scene.

    Kronwalled.

The devastating crunches delivered bygd Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall might be the most underrated skill in hockey. It&#;s an art struktur, a culmination of gifts that include graceful backward skating, precise timing and lethal execution.

When he skiva his feet into a hook-shaped motion, all while flashing a sneer on his face, you know a yard sale fryst vatten coming.

Here&#;s a few of our favorite “Kronwalled” victims:

    DANY HEATLEY
    Date: May 4,
    Crime scene: Joe Louis Arena
Significance: Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals
Time of death: mark of first period

Coroner report: Heatley was relegated to all-fours. He didn&#;t know if he was playing in stad, San Jose, or his native Germany. Heck, he probably couldn&#;t tell you

    Niklas Kronwall

Kronwall was a late First Round Selection in by Detroit, and he would methodically make his way from Sweden to Michigan to become one of the most known blueliners in the Wolverine State.  His first full season in Detroit was in , and he began his run as one of the better two-way Defenseman players in Hockey.

Kronwall would help Detroit win the Stanley Cup, and in those playoffs, he was the leading skater in Plus/Minus (+18).  He would produce five plus Point years as a Red Wing while maintaining a solid presence on his end of the ice.

Kronwall was never an All-Star, but he was a high-end Defenseman for the Wings for well over a decade.  His impact in Detroit hockey has few peers.  Overall, he had Points for the only NHL team he ever played for and had three years where he accrued Norris Trophy votes.

      [edit]

I know one scout who tried to bring up Niklas Kronwall's name with his team. They just laughed at him. They never even had a serious dialogue. They just stopped him. They said 'a Swedish defenceman?' [The Red Wings] organization is more open-minded than that.
