Ant is the most compact of the Extrema Ratio folding knives. Despite its small size, this model has an extremely robust, resistant and reliable structure. The handle consists of two different elements, the grip made of anodized anticorodal aluminum and the tempered steel frame that functions as a locking mechanism for the blade (Frame Lock System). Part of the frame is bent inwards to firmly fix the blade when opened, thus increasing the operator&#;s safety during use.

On the shank there is a slot for inserting a lanyard; on the right side of the handle there is a steel clip that allows to conceal the knife inside the pocket. Ant is available in 4 versions with two different types of steel both supplied by Böhler, an Austrian company which Extrema Ratio has been collaborating with for more than 20 years, using their time-tested materials to produce its blades.

Ant Black and Ant Black Stone Washed are made of Böhler N, hardened to 58 HRC for better balance between edge retention and strength; this is a type of steel used by Extrema Ratio for the majority of its knives.

There’s a reason it’s a classic. Made famous by the Gurkha regiments serving under the British crown, the “kukri” is a Nepalese all-purpose blade descended from ancient Greek sickle-shaped swords. It’s ultimately a machete with a top-heavy, forward-positioned cutting edge, which enables it to function as an axe while retaining the versatility of a long blade. Extrema Ratio has developed two such tools, our KS and KH models, blending ancient and modern design concepts. Both employ combination grinds. The razor-like hollow grind closer to the grip yields a fine, sharp edge without compromising the overall thickness of the back of the blade (which needs great sturdiness). The tip portion of the blade is instead flat ground, well-angled to effortlessly penetrate wood and vegetation. While similar tools are usually made from softer steel alloys for elasticity and ease of honing, we were able to achieve adequate elasticity using hard BÖHLER N steel, making for a remarkably durable edge.

Smith & Wesson® M&P® Extreme Ops Karambit

The M&P Extreme Ops Karambit is a new take on a classic knife. The blade is a reverse tanto straight edge which brings a new level of utility to the traditional karambit carry. The back of the knife features prominent jimping with a thumb ramp to help you keep control on more precise cuts. The blade features a pocket hook for quick deployment on draw and the handle has a safety lock which can be engaged to prevent accidental blade deployment. Lastly the hollow oversized finger fingerprydnad is great for bigger hands and allows for a slightly longer blade length, making the knife a comfortable fit for reverse grip use.
