Kvikkjokk
Kvikkjokk, lulesamiskaHuhttán[1], är en fjällby tillhörande Jokkmokks kommun, belägen km nordväst om Jokkmokk. Orten är känd som en av de populäraste utgångspunkterna för vandring i Sarek- och Padjelantaområdena, samt för sitt ständigt föränderliga delta där älvarna Gamájåhkå (Kamajokk) och Darreädno (Tarraälven) rinner ihop i sjön Sakkat (Saggat). I december var 20 personer över 16 år folkbokförda i byn.[2] Förutom den fasta befolkningen är det många som tidvis bebor de många fritidshus som byggts i Kvikkjokk under talet.
Etymologi
[redigera | redigera wikitext]Kvikkjokk är en försvenskning av Kuoi'hka-johko, "Forsälven", vilket är ett annat namn på Gamájåhkå (från gamá, grumligt som renmjölkens vassle). Det samiska namnet Huhttán syftar på den smälthytta som anlades vid forsen.[3] Huhttán är inget samiskt ord utan församiskat från det första svenska ordet för platsen, Hyttan.

Jokkmokk Sweden: the cultural heart of Lapland
Jokkmokk in Sweden is a small town just north of the polar circle. Despite the increasing popularity of arctic tourism, Jokkmokk, like Lulea, is often overlooked by visitors to Swedish Lapland.
A pity, because there are many reasons to include a visit to Jokkmokk in your itinerary. Jokkmokk is located in the heart of the traditional lands of the indigenous Sami people. The town is known for its Sami heritage, and it hosts the annual Jokkmokk Winter Market, which is one of the largest and oldest markets of its kind in Northern Scandinavia.
Jokkmokk is the cultural capital of Lapland and offers the same exciting winter activities and spectacular nature surroundings as the more popular destinations in northern Scandinavia.
I visited Swedish Lapland in October and Jokkmokk definetly was one of the highlights of my trip.

Single rooms, double rooms, triple rooms, and quadruple rooms are available. All rooms have hostel standard with a sink in the rooms and showers and toilets in the corridor. kvinna, male, and mixed dorms are available depending on availability. In the restaurant, breakfast buffet, middag, and an à la carte menu in the evening are served.
